Food Bank Information
If you are in need of food assistance, please read and complete the information below. We will contact you regarding your registration appointment and what documentation you will need to bring with you. New immigrants must be in Canada for at least 3 months, while those with refugee status are exempt from the 3 month waiting period.
Food Boxes are prepared every Monday and Tuesday by a team of volunteers. Whatever we receive into the food bank each week is distributed evenly as possible to each family. The boxes are filled depending on family size. Each family receives similar items. We cannot accommodate specific dietary needs in a family.
You must pick up your box on either Tuesday from 2 pm – 5:30 pm OR Wednesday from 10 am – 5 pm. We ask that you bring your own bags to empty the bins contating your food. There is an incentive table where you may choose a few extra items to take with you. The items change from week to week. They may include items such as coffee, hygiene products etc.
A weekly administration fee of $7.00 is collected at the door when picking up your box. Payment may be made weekly or monthly but your account must be kept in good standing (no more than one month owing) or your account will be put on hold until payment is made. Your food box will not be available until your account is settled.
E-transfers can be sent to payments@onrock.org.
If at any time you do not need your box, you are required to contact us by Sunday at the latest. If you do not let us know, you will still incur the $7.00 charge since your box was prepared for you. If you do not contact us 3 times in 3 months (and do not pick up) you will be removed from our services for 1 year. You may put your box on Hold for a period of time for reasons of travel, or sickness.
You cannot be a customer of any other food bank. This includes the holiday period in December. We share client lists between food banks.
The Food Bank will be closed periodically throughout the year but you will be notified the week prior.
